The kitchen is one of the most important areas in any home, as it serves as both a food preparation area and a gathering space for your loved ones and guests. With this in mind, it’s perfectly understandable to want to make changes to your existing kitchen, and our team at Legendary Construction INC is here to help you do that.

Common Kitchen Remodeling Mistakes to Avoid

We have extensive experience in the home improvement industry and have worked on countless kitchen remodeling projects over the years. In this article, we will focus on common kitchen remodeling mistakes and explain how to avoid them.

  • Space-Wasting Layout- One mistake many people make when it comes to kitchen remodeling is using a layout that wastes space. Specifically, these kitchen layouts spread the three points of the work triangle—the refrigerator, the stove, and the sink—too far apart from each other, which makes cooking take longer than it should because the cook has to walk farther. To avoid this, make sure your kitchen design has a compact work core that keeps these three points within easy reach of each other.
  • Poor Aisle Clearance- Another mistake that people often make in their kitchen remodeling efforts is making the aisles too narrow, or not accounting for clearance. Once these remodels are complete, these homeowners find themselves dealing with traffic jams because the aisles are too tight for people to move around each other, and they often also deal with frustration because the doors of their cabinets, oven, and dishwasher keep hitting things. The way to avoid this issue is to make sure your aisles have enough room for two people to walk side-by-side and account for the swing of all the doors during the plannings stages.
  • Insufficient Lighting- A third mistake that we have often seen in kitchen remodeling projects is the failure to include enough lighting. Every kitchen needs general lighting to illuminate the whole space, as well as task lighting to help you clearly see your hands and knife when chopping veggies, for example. Fortunately, our team has the right experience to help you avoid this mistake—we’ll make sure to include plenty of lighting in your design so that you never have to strain to see what you are doing.
